I must admit, I have only read these books up till book 7 and have recently started over as I was beginning to forget everything. I haven't heard much about what happens after 7- but my question is, are the books still as good later on and does anyone you really like die, and how the heck does Rand lose his hand? I know this will contain many spoilers for people, myself included, but I just gotta know dang it!

Depends on who you ask. You probably don't want my opinion, but I believe the most recent book that came out was among the best. A lot of people are hard on Crossroads of Twilight, but I love the character exploration that one.

So not that you were asking, but they're worth reading.

Here is what you actually asked for:

Spoiler:
Rand loses his hand in an encounter with the Forsaken Semirhage. Major deaths include, let's see, Sheriam and Verin, who are both Darkfriends (though Verin betrays her Dark ways and seems to come through for the goodguys despite her Dark oaths). Masema gets killed by Faile, Semirhage gets killed by Rand, Eamon Valda is killed by Galad, several moderate Aes Sedai and Asha'man die.. Can't think of any other major ones. Probably a Forsaken or two. It's hard to remember where Book Seven left off.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! That was very helpful. I just wanted to make sure these books stay as good as they started.
